GREAT FRIENDS. GREAT WEEKEND SEPT 2016

A great weekend with great friends.

Friends we have known for over 20 years came for the weekend. They flew into Denver and we met up with them at Ruby Tuesday. There were a lot of smiles, hugs and warm greetings.

From there we decided to keep going so we drove up to Lookout Mountain where Buffalo Bill Cody is buried. It was a beautiful drive up there with beautiful views. It turns out that of the 6 of them 5 had not been in Colorado before. So everything was new to them. Cindy and I had been up to Lookout Mountain with Laura before.

It was a great time. We simply enjoyed the sights and being together.
After Lookout Mountain we drove to our home for a time of eating and more fellowship. The guys went to our Liquor Store and bought libations for the evening.

Have you ever had Rum Chata? It is an after dinner drink. Wow that was good. It might be my new favorite drink. We had to laugh when we discovered it was made in Pewaukee, Wisconsin which is close to where they all live.

Cindy really worked hard and had prepared ahead of time a fruit salad and vegetable salad. The main dish was a pesto pasta salad which we really enjoy. So the food along with great conversation and a bit of libation fill up the evening.

Since they were staying at an airport hotel we met them the next morning up in the mountains at Georgetown. What a nice little town. We were there to go on the Georgetown Loop Railroad trip. We met The Happy Cooker restaurant for brunch. The food was just great.

It was now on to the rail trip. It was cold up there and we were in an open air car but we did fine. The trip was great. It only lasts 1.5 hours but that was enough. It started snowing a few flakes along the way. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

From there it was to the Rio and great Mexican eats.
I tried a shot of tequila along with a few others. Man that stuff is strong. I probably won't do that again. Whee.

It was a fun filled weekend and all too short. We hugged and said our goodbyes and then off we all went.

The next time we are thinking of getting together is next May in Holland, Micchigan for their tulip festival. I look forward to that.

THANK YOU LAURA

Since moving to Denver we have been able to be part of Laura and BJ's family more often. It has been great.
We wanted to be where we could help out when needed and we could attend activities where the kids were involved. We also wanted to be in a city with almost unlimited potential for fun.
We have enjoyed the get together s like going out to lunch, a quick visit since we live about 20 minutes away, watching the kids play t-ball, hiking in the mountains, cuddling the kids, babysitting from time to time, storytelling time and on and on. We also enjoy having adult time with Laura and BJ. Recenely I watched Ryan while Cindy & Laura went on the Parade of Homes. We can do that now.
Thank you Laura for including us in your family.
