NOTE TO ST JOHN PEOPLE

Greetings one and all,
Greetings from Colorado. Cindy and I are feeling more settled. It is coming slowly.

While I was living with Mel and Beth Miller and finishing up my time with you Cindy was working little by little to turn our new house into our home. When I finally joined her on July 24th our home was starting to emerge. But everyone of you who has moved from one place to another knows this is just the start of the long process.

Cindy and I were asked by our son to come out and help so we flew out to help. We ended up being there helping for just short two weeks. Both twins were premature and had some issues that prevented them from going home from the hospital right away. So the way we helped was by planning meals, buying groceries, cleaning up, taking A. to day care, picking her up, feeding her, sometimes putting her to bed, walking the dog so that Matt and AJ could go to the hospital to help tend to E.and T.

E.came home after we had been there one week. Now just Matt or AJ went to the hospital each day. T. came home close to a week later. It was a great reunion. So now Matt & AJ have to figure out a routine that enables them to handle everything.

When we finally came home Cindy and I were a bit tired to say the least and didn’t even try to do any work at home.

Both Cindy and I are so grateful for all you did for us. For putting me up in their home for three weeks Mel and Beth Miller have my thanks. Our final worship was a real celebration. The music  was inspirational. Then our meal together was as always filled with great food and fellowship. Your gift to us of a beautiful picture of the Tetons hangs in our living room.

I miss seeing the mountains encircling Riverton. I hope you never stop seeing them. I also miss seeing the deer grazing in the fields or crossing Riverview road. I miss seeing the herds of antelope when driving to Casper.

We want you to know that we would love seeing you when you come down this way. Our address is:
Scott and Cindy Jorgenson

My cell – (307) 855-5070

May God bless each of you richly with His presence.  May your search for another pastor go well and we hope to see you again soon."

CHURCH SHOPPING

Last Sunday, the first Sunday after my retirement, Cindy and I went to Christ Lutheran Church which just happens to be maybe 5 blocks from our home. That was convenient. The following comments are no reflection on Christ Lutheran.

I paid attention to how I was feeling and learned a few things. I found I was on edge at the beginning anyway. I don't believe it was because I wasn't up front. I felt - don't get noticed, who are these strangers, could we fit in here. I was almost shaking. Is this how church shoppers feel? If so no wonder they don't stay around for fellowship coffee. They just want out. Cindy and I left right after worship. We made no attempt to make a personal contact with anyone.

It happened to be the last Sunday of their interim. He was great. It was also the VBS Sunday so the kids sang a few songs. They were great also. I found I was feeling a bit more relaxed then. Then the children's sermon by the interim. He did a wonderful job but like me had to work at keeping control over the situation.
There were only a few songs I knew. That makes a difference. In some ways I was simply observing. When there were some familiar songs I got involved. But even during the spoken liturgy I was distant. I really don't have words for it.

It certainly was a different experience. We decided to look some more not because we couldnt be happy there but we wanted to look around. Maybe we would end up worshiping where our daughters family worship.
